Offshore and Survey Equipment
Noordhoek Pathfinder - DPII ROV Support / Survey Vessel

The Noordhoek Pathfinder is a new generation purpose-built ROV Support / Survey Vessel.

The vessel has an overall length of 62 meters, a deck area of 360 square meters and accommodation for 40 persons. Its transit speed and endurance enable extremely efficient operations and the vessel is capable of performing a broad range of tasks worldwide.

The Noordhoek Pathfinder is equipped for ROV and survey projects, with integrated USBL system, vessel-mounted multibeam and sub-bottom profiler systems, ROV and ROTV as standard. Working areas will include online and offline survey rooms and a dedicated ROV control room, with sufficient facilities for data acquisition, processing and reporting to be carried out onboard.

The 25 mT offshore crane and three spacious moon pools allow for safe and efficient deployment of additional subsea hardware such a geotechnical and sediment sampling equipment. There will be a wet laboratory for analysis of sediment samples.

ROV Equipment

N-Sea owns and operates a range of well-proven work and inspection class ROV systems including:

  • Seaeye Panther Plus (WROV)
  • Sub Atlantic Mohican
  • Seaeye Surveyor
  • Seaeye Falcon
  • Seaeye 600 DT
  • Seaeye Boxer

The ROV systems are portable, of ultra compact design, offshore certified by Lloyds Register and maintained in-house by our 100%-owned sister company N-Seatec.

The systems are A-Frame launched, include an (active) tether management system and EX Zone II certification which allow them to operate in a range of environments from any vessel, platform or rig.

The ROVs can be equipped with various task-specific tools as required.

Air / Mixed Gas Diving Equipment

N-Sea owns and operates a range of portable air / mixed gas diving systems including diver launch and recovery systems (based on diver cage or wet bells), diver umbilicals, hot water supply systems and personal diving equipment including digital video inspection systems.

Our portable diving systems comprise compact integrated dive control and decompression facilities or spacious split units and can be operated in zoned and non-zoned environments from any vessel, platform or rig.

ROTV Equipment

N-Sea owns and operates a MacArtney Focus II ROTV. The system includes a complete spare towed body (including the necessary interfacing components) and enables Noordhoek to provide a flexible and cost-effective geophysical survey solution.

The crane-launched ROTV configuration is portable and has been designed for deployment from any vessel.

N-Sea offers the ROTV inspection services not only for pipeline / cable inspection projects but also for route and site surveys, or any other project where a stable platform is required for acquiring high quality sidescan sonar, sub-bottom profiler or multibeam bathymetry data.

Twin-Prop - Excavating Equipment

The main components of the Twin-prop are two double-bladed propellers fitted in a stainless-steel tubular housing. By rotating the propellers, water is drawn into the Twin-prop and forced out of the bottom at high pressure. Stability is assured because the blades rotate in opposite directions.

Experience has proved the efficiency of the Twin-prop. Sand, soft clay, small stones / rocks and many other soil types are easily excavated by the large volume of water moved by the propellers. Depending on the soil type, excavation depths up to 3 meters can be reached easily by a single pass.

The Twin-prop can be accurately positioned using DGPS if required.

Well Abandonment Equipment

The Diamond Wire Cutting tool is designed for the removal of abandoned / suspended wellheads from a depth of up to 6 meters (20 feet) below the seabed.

Conductors up to a diameter of 36 inches can be removed from a solid soil environment using this system, which incorporates a drilling head combined with air-lifting and water injection capabilities.

The conductor removal operations are efficient, clean and safe, have no requirement for special permits, incorporate redundancy in the form of a backup diamond wire cutting system, and can be performed remotely using an ROV.

The tool has successfully removed a number of conductors from the North Sea.
