Data Processor

 

1.   Position within the organisation:
Reports to the Party Chief
Communicates with Project team onboard and Data Coordinator in the office.

2.   Objectives

To conduct Quality Control of survey data and to process raw survey data into final products for the client. The Data Processor will also archive the data and the results. Activities of the Data Processor will largely take place onboard during national and international projects.

 

3.   Tasks and responsibilities

The Data Processor has, amongst others, the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Process calibrations and checks during mobilisations
  • Interpretation of Survey data
  • Conduct Quality Control of survey data and checks data on completeness.
  • Process survey data to final products for the client
  • Undertakes processing according to Noordhoek Procedures.
  • Advises the Party Chief on the progress of the processing and the data quality
  • Monitors working methods and suggests improvements where applicable
  • Creates procedures and work instructions in close cooperation with the Data Coordinator regarding the processing
  • Archive survey data
  • Communicates with other members of the project team to optimise the data quality

 

4.   Authorities

  • Is authorised by the Party Chief and operates by project specifications and client request
  • Advises Party Chief when data quality is not acceptable
  • Creates templates, scripts and project specific procedures for data processing
  • Stops the operations in the event of an unsafe situation

 

5.   Profile

Ideally, for this position we are seeking a candidate qualified in Hydrography with experience in offshore survey projects. Applicants should be willing and able to travel internationally and to work offshore on a regular rotation. They should possess excellent skills with CAD and processing software and be capable of interpreting\processing the data to create final products.

 

6.   Education and experience

  • HND\HNC or BSc in surveying or related subject
  • One year experience in surveying or related subject
  • Excellent skills in modern CAD and processing software
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Sea survival training and offshore medical

  • Toolboxes
  • Kick-off meetings
  • Project evaluation meeting

10. IMCA Competence

Position is described by IMCA Data Processor Grade I (S24) or IMCA Data Processor Grade I (S34).
