1. Position within the organisation:
Reports to the Party Chief
Communicates with Party Chief and Data Processors.
2. Objectives
To operate and monitor acquisition systems onboard and to support calibrations and mobilisations. To maintain the log book and clearly communicate with others involved in the survey operations.
3. Tasks and responsibilities
The Surveyor has, amongst others, the following tasks and responsibilities:
- Undertake or support calibrations and checks during mobilisations
- Undertake data acquisition according to Noordhoek Procedures.
- Monitor data coverage and quality during acquisition
- Communicate during operations with marine crew and others involved
- Maintain the log book
- Provide feedback to the Data Processor on data coverage and quality
- Advise the Party Chief on the progress of the data acquisition and the data quality
- Archive survey data
4. Authorities
- Is authorised by the Party Chief and operates by project specifications and client request
- Advise Party Chief when data quality is not acceptable
- Monitor data quality and completeness
- Stop the operations in the event of an unsafe situation
5. Profile
Ideally, for this position we are seeking a candidate qualified in Hydrography willing and able to travel internationally and to work offshore on a regular rotation. Applicants should possess skills to interpret and quality control the data during acquisition.
6. Education and experience
- HND\HNC or BSc in surveying or related subject
- One year experience in surveying or related subject
- Good written and spoken English
- Sea survival training and offshore medical
