Data Coordinator Survey
 

1.    Position within the organisation: 

Reports to the General Manager Survey

Communicates with Project Managers

 

2.    Objectives

QA and QC the survey data and process raw survey data to final products for the client. The Data Coordinator will direct and support the data processors onboard. He will also be responsible for the archiving of data and results.

 

3.    Tasks and responsibilities

The Data Coordinator has, amongst others, the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Advise the commercial department on the time and equipment or software needed for specific projects
  • Advise the Project Manager on processing techniques
  • Process the calibrations and checks during mobilisation
  • Prepare the processing resources for both vessel and office
  • Support the vessels with data and advice
  • Control the data from the vessels on quality and completeness
  • Process survey data to final products for the client
  • Undertake processing according to Noordhoek Procedures.
  • Advise the Project Manager on the progress of the processing and the data quality
  • Monitor working methods and suggest improvements where applicable
  • Create procedures and work instructions for processing
  • Archive survey data
  • Develop scripts and templates to standardise processing

4.    Authorities

  • Is authorised by the Project Manager and operates by project specifications and client request
  • Advise Project Manager when data quality is not acceptable
  • Create templates, scripts and project specific procedures for data processing
  • Stop the operations in the event of an unsafe situation

 

5.    Profile

Ideally, for this position we are seeking a candidate qualified in Hydrography with experience in offshore survey projects. Applicants should possess excellent skills with software such as CAD, processing software and Microsoft office. The candidate should be able to interpret the data, process the raw data to final products and archive all data and results.

 

6.    Education and experience

  • BSc in surveying or related subject
  • Two years experience in surveying or related subject
  • Excellent skills in modern CAD and processing software
  • Good written and spoken English
